Design and Organization

We advise design firms how to organize their practices to reinforce their specific cultures, utilize staff more efficiently, and optimize profitability.

Integration of Technology and Design
Early integration of design and technology, with architects and engineers working side-by-side, will lead to better design and better coordination, and will avoid conflicts. We have a method for initiation of projects involving the entire team, ensuring that coordination occurs from the start.

Team Building
It has been our experience over many years of practice that architecture should not be about departments or studios, but about project teams. Building teams means getting the right people in place, clarifying project goals, and developing commitment to working together. Budgeting time for the team to socialize together will also build team spirit. Teams can be staffed with a combination of full-time and part-time people, which will allow your senior staff to participate on multiple projects. Project teams should be dismantled when the project ends, to make staff available for new assignments and to form new teams for new projects.

Skills Assessment
We evaluate the skill levels of the senior professionals in an design firm to asses whether they are in positions which provide highest value for the firm, and that they have the necessary skills to do their jobs.

Negotiating Contracts and Fees
The success of negotiations depends on understanding not only your goals but the goals and limitations of the client.
