Integral coaching is an area within the field of humanistic psychology that is being applied in the business world to aid individuals in becoming more effective in their work roles.
The premise is that people need more than just insight and/or strategies to change their behaviors. Any business consultant can offer strategies—how to go after new business, control financials, manage clients, lead teams, relate to partners, and interact with staff. But people don’t always follow through on the advice given. This is where integral coaching comes in. An integral coach focuses on the whole individual, across a spectrum of experience:
• the social quadrant includes work relationships and personal relationships;
• the behavior quadrant includes the body, health and vitality;
• the self knowledge quadrant includes one’s reflective life; and
• the environmental quadrant includes technology and tools.
As an example, if communication issues surface at work, a coach may notice that these patterns show up elsewhere in the individual’s life. Simply identifying the problem won’t solve it. To support long-term change, a coach will tailor custom programs to increase an individual’s awareness and engage new ways of responding.
In this way, new behaviors become integrated into stable practices, and the client becomes independently self-correcting. Such lasting changes can have ripple effects across life: people become happier and more fulfilled in their work lives and relationships, and more effective in their professional responsibilities; and their own clients and staff are more engaged and enthusiastic about working with them.
According to a study done by the Manchester Group, when executives were asked about their coaching experience, respondents reported:
• 77% had improved relationships
• 67% had improved teamwork
• 61% had improved job satisfaction
• 53% had improved productivity
• 48% had improved quality of work.

"Leadership issues can be mercurial, even when you think you have clarity. Coaching can strip away the haze and identify the issues that obscure the path you want to be on. Andrea Jacoby has the skill of a Zen master and the art and science of a seasoned professional to coach us to see the obstacles that we place in front of us. Then, she carefully elicits the goals we want to achieve, and how we can get there."

"When you look at yourself in the mirror, you see a reflection of your physical image. When you work with Andrea Jacoby, she brings another type of ‘mirror’ that shows you how other people see you. This self-awareness gets you to take stock of your interactions with other people and work upon improving them, to become a successful business leader."
